This Technical Notebook to Download , a cardboard tutorial , explains how to make the Mikado game, consisting of a half-cylinder box with a pagoda lid with a hinge . The closure is ensured by an elastic band and a button placed on the base. Inside the box, a tray with a hinge, supports the game accessories (pencil, notebook, rules of the game). This tray isolates the sticks in colors matching the project.

The Story of Soong Ching-ling's Mikado Box Set
“I really like simple board games: they have many advantages that I like. They are very simple to set up, require little space to set up, are easy to travel with, and have rules that are accessible to everyone, young and old.
Among these games, Mikado occupies a special place.
So I gave it special attention by offering it an elegant box, in an Asian style which suits it perfectly.
I dedicate this creation to Soong Ching-ling (1893-1981), who founded several children's charities. In 1949, Soong established the China Welfare Institute, which included orphanages, daycare centers, and mother and child hospitals. No doubt Mikado games were found in all of these establishments.
At the same time, I was looking for an opportunity to explore marquetry decorations, a technique generally associated with other materials such as straw or wood.
I really enjoyed this research; the possibilities for decor are endless.
I am convinced that new creations will soon see the light of day.
thanks to this new decoration alternative.
... Good creation ...”
