The Story of the Gisèle Lamp

“One day, one of my students showed me a photo of a table lamp with a porcelain base. The multifaceted, origami-like shapes, arranged in a generally round shape, inspired me greatly.

That's all I needed to create my own version, made of cardboard and paper. For a long time,

I'd wanted to dedicate one of my creations to Gisèle Halimi,

a woman I deeply admire.

I finally found the object that pays tribute to her:

Like the many and often thorny battles she fought, this lamp presents many facets and angles.

Looking at it, one immediately perceives an impression of strength and resilience.

And everything is enveloped in a reassuring and comforting sphere,

reflecting Gisèle Halimi's immense humanity.

I also find that this lamp model embodies elegance and refinement,

qualities that have always accompanied this eminent defender of women's rights. ...
